is this a good poker strategy?

ok, on the preflop I will limp in if atleast 1 of my cards is a face card or an ace. I will also call pairs, but I never raise pre-flop. on the flop if I have a pair of the highest card on the board, I will bet 2 times the big blind. If they call I will bet 5 times the big blind. If they call again, I will bet 11 times the big blind, but I will only do this if I think I have the best hand, if I see possibilites of better hands, I will fold to any bet. If my chip stack gets low enough that the big blind is 1/10th my stack. I will become very loose and agressive, to try and steal some pots. idk if this is a good strategy or not, but its been working for me.
THIS IS NO LIMIT TEXAS HOLDEM!!! THAT I AM TALKING ABOUT!!!
and I usually play in tournaments. for play money.

Right, LegFuJohnson. (As usual.)

There are SO many things wrong with this strategy is not even funny. I am glad you are playing for 'play' money!

Suffice it to say, practically EVERYTHING you are doing is wrong.

* Limp if 1 card is a face card: WRONG.

* Never raise pre-flop: WRONG.

* Top pair betting strategy: Too many things WRONG with this to list. The biggest thing wrong is that you aren't caring one bit about anything except that you have top pair. You're not thinking of position; who was the pre-flop raiser; chip stacks; many other things...to many to mention. 2nd worst thing is that you're doing the same thing all the time. That's a losing strategy.

* Big Blind is 1/10th of your stack so you'll become loose and aggressive: Could be right, could be wrong. Depends on what you mean by "loose and aggressive". If I had to guess, you're probably doing that wrong, too.

Sorry to be so blunt about all this, but you did ask the question. I'm being very honest. The best thing that you are doing is staying with PLAY money. THAT is RIGHT!!! ;)

That may seem a decent strategy, although it may not work for you over the long run.

Be careful of playing the same game. You have to use a variety of techniques so other players don't get on to your style.

Also, sometimes you need to toss a bet out there pre-flop to drive some of the other players out. Otherwise you lose with your pocket Kings to someone who made an 8-high straight on the river.

Pay as much attention to the other players game as you are to your own. Knowing what they do helps you decide what YOU need to do, and pay attention to what the cards on the table tell you about the possibilities in the other players hand.

Good luck, maybe I run into you sometime on the tables.

LIKE IN REAL-ESTATE LOCATION LOCATION (POSITION)
REASON FOR SLOW PLAY AND RAISES

REASON FOR RAISE IN PRE FLOP IS TO TRIM THE PACK
OK LET;S SAY A10 ALL ARE CALL YOU NEED TO RAISE HERE TO GET RID OF SOME PLAYER YOUR IS NOW VERY WEAK TO A LOT OF TRASH

PLAYING TO TIGHT CAN COST YOU SINCE NO LIMIT IS A WAIT AND TRAP GAME THERE ARE TO MANY THING I NEED TO FOR A TRUE ANZ BUT REAL ESTATE ANZ IS GOOD OH IF A PLAYER CLOCKS YOUR PLAY YOUR TOAST
AND IN NO LIMIT WE KEEP RECORDS

Sorry, that's a strategy for going broke fast. Limping just because you have a face card is probably going to break you...unless you have position and/or a decent kicker, chances are it's just wasted chips.

I'm a tight player, so I'm not to keen on limping in with J-x off or a pair of, say, sixes. Depending on the blinds, you'll probably lose more than you'll win. It also sounds like you don't vary your game at all and therefore will probably not do so great in the end. I'm not sure what "it's working for me" really means in a tourney setting. Does this mean you win, place high, or just cash? If you're pleased with the results, I guess keep it up, but if you never vary winning is hard.

Sounds awful. You can't keep limping into pots with K-5 and Q-2. And you never raise preflop?

Well, it's play money, so do whatever you want, but don't expect to win any real money playing that way.
