I'm from the Harrisburg PA area myself and have sent Poker Stars that issue to find out what is going on. I have never had this issue myself and will be very upset if I am no longer able to play these games. Update..... just got email from Poker Stars. This is the actual email copy and pasted to this post.

Hello John,

We regret to inform you that in light of recent developments,
PokerStars is no longer offering real money play to US residents.

We are currently assessing the situation, and will communicate
with all of our players as soon as possible.

We apologize for the inconvenience this is causing.

Kind Regards,

Peggy A

I'm so pissed. I played free rolls all the time. I downloaded BODOG but you have to have money because all free rolls have re-buys.So I guess it's not really "free". This blows...

It's all thanks to the FBI, which has frozen assets and is accusing several bigtime sites of fraud and money laundering. When I first heard of this I assumed that Pokerstars and others had been caught fixing games or some such; but no, our genius government has apparently just now noticed what has been going on for years and years, that people are actually getting banks to transfer their own money to the sites so they can play cards online. Horrors!

As somebody else said, you can invest (and possibly lose) millions on Wall Street or lose your shirt (or the farm) betting on a horse...but you can't play some little nickel & dime poker game on the web.
