a good alternative to pokerstars?

Now that pokerstars and fulltilt has been shutdown, I'm looking for a good alternative poker site. Any recommendations? And can someone explain to me what a rake is? Ive noticed some poker rooms take some of your money when you win a pot. Pokerstars didn't do that. Im looking for a poker room that doesn't do that.

The next biggest U.S. friendly poker room is the Merge Network and than the Cake Network. Carbon Poker is a good merge poker room and Cake Poker is the most weell known on the cake network. One has to wonder if the U.S. gov't will be cracking down on these sites next though? Looking for the best bonusses and rakeback deals for these sites go here: http://rakeback.areyouapokerfish.com/

If you live in the US you dont have a lot of options, either cake or doyles will do it for you. They still operate from within the US market. I asked their support and they said they dont have problems now.

Currently the largest US poker room is Bodog. They are a big poker room, casino and sportsbook. The action at the Holdem tables has always been crazy. They have a better bonus than Stars/Tilt as well. You will get:

- 10% instant cash credit
- 100% match bonus up to $1,000
- Ticket to a $100,000 freeroll tournament.

Use the link below and you won't have to enter any codes or anything like that to claim this bonus.

BTW - Pokerstars did take rake out of the pots. If you played at the microstakes, headsup or play money tables you probably wouldn't notice though.
