Why is there a WSOP womens only tournament?

Do women have a predisposed disadvantage at Texas Holdem or what?

They do it in hopes of attracting more women to the game. Statistically the percentage of women players has not increased in over a decade but it is not because of a disadvantage of any kind. The growth is proportional in comparison to the increased number of male players. Common thinking is that women get intimidated by the sheer number of men in the game. Hence the regular offerings of ladies tournaments. Many female pros do not participate in ladies events because of sexist connotations that go along with it however there are others that see no harm but every year the event sparks controversy.

Absolutely not...but it's the same reason they have a 'Seniors Only' tournament...I don't agree with them...in fact I hate playing in women's only tournaments...but we DO NOT have a predisposed disadvantage...enough said

Probably to make the female game more prominent than it would otherwise be if there were a handful playing in regular tourneys, so attract more women into the game?
