Why did pokerstars get shut down? please dumb it down for me so i understand?

i know it had something to do with money laundering but what exactly happened?

ger2000 		it got shut down because USA is run by a stupid government who should worry about more important things like creating jobs for its starving out of work citizens.....not worry about people harmlessly playing poker for a few dollars online, SHAME ON YOU USA GOVERNMENT AND YOUR IDIOT PRESIDENT

armenece 		They weren't legally allowed to run the gambling site. Furthermore it was proven to be used as a front to launder money gained in illegal activities.

twocox 		The goverment wants their cut. Trust me when I say the sites will be back up eventually once an agreement is made & the goverment gets theirs.
