Rake is how poker rooms make their money. That is the money that the poker rooms deduct from every pot. Usually the rake is a couple of percent with a cap at around $3 at the highest limits. There is also rake on tournaments, where the large portion of the buy in goes to the price pool, and a little fee goes to the poker site. The poker rooms make huge money from the rake the players contribute with. It is not unusual that a single player pay $3000 to the poker room every month, and that’s just one player. A poker room with more than 10,000 active players earns quite a lot of money to say the least.

Rakeback is a refund to the players. Poker players receive a percentage of the rake they pay to the poker room. A normal rakeback offer is between 25 and 40 percent, but sometimes players can get an even better offer. If you receive 35% rakeback, and rake $1000 one month, you will get $350 back. The more you rake, the more you get back. That is basically what rakeback is about.

If you want to get rakeback you usually have to sign up at a poker room through an affiliate. An affiliate is someone who signs up players and earns money from the players’ rake. There are many sites that are affiliates and can offer players good deals. The rakeback site earns a couple of percent of your total rake back, but the major part of it goes back into your bankroll.

Some of the poker variations are better suitable for a rakeback deal. If you play shorthanded poker, you are involved in more pots, and therefore pay more rake. If you play at more than one table at the time you also play more hands, and pay more rake. When you are involved in a lot of pots you should definitely play with rakeback.

I don’t see any downsides to rakeback. If you can get some money back why wouldn’t you take it? Maybe you have to switch site, because you only get the deal when you have created a new account. But that’s not a lot of work. You will earn a lot of cash, or save cash depending on how you look at it. Just do it!

Rakeback will give you back a certain percentage of the rake (fee for playing in the poker room) you paid. So, the more you play the more you will get back in weekly or monthly payments.

If you are playing on PokerStars you are not missing out, as I believe there are no rakeback offers available. But you can find rakeback offers for sites like Full Tilt Poker, Ultimate Bet and various rooms on the Cake Poker network. Most of the time the affiliate you sign up through can also offer special promotions or freerolls for the poker room, that you otherwise would not be eligible for.

Definately not a scam and thousands of players are benefiting from it but rakeback isn't available at pokerstars so you havn't been missing out on anything. You can only receive rakeback when signing up through an affiliate, basically an affiliate gets commission off the rake you pay to the poker room the rakeback comes out of their commission which is why they can afford to pay you and which is also why you can only get rakeback through an affiliate. Also rakeback is the percentage you receive back from the rake you pay to the poker room in each hand.

The additional benefit of signing up via an affiliate is through the largest ones you gain access to their exlusive freerolls and rake races e.g. the affiiate http://www.onlinerakeback.net gives a $30,000 freeroll and $50,000 rake chase as well as the standard 27% rakeback and $600 sign up bonus for it's full tilt players each month, they can do this because they have loads of players playing at Full Tilt so their commission payments are huge.

Rakeback is a program done by affiliates of online poker rooms. These affiliates (often times websites/rakeback forums) get players to sign up for poker rooms and the players get a portion of their "rake"(i.e the money extracted by online poker room ) back.

since u have been playing at Pokerstars, contact their customer support to get your rakeback money. It will take some time.

Money returned by a to the poker player who generated the rake in the first place. At all of the major poker rooms offering rakeback, affiliates must agree to a certain capped percentage that is allowed to be returned to the player. Some poker room rakeback percentages include:
Poker Stars: 32%
Full Tilt Poker: 27%.
Cake Poker: 33%.
Absolute Poker/Ultimate Bet: 30%.
Action Poker: 35%.
Carbon Poker: 30%.
Sun Poker: 30%.

Online poker rakeback isn’t something that should affright you to any degree. Once you get to know details about it, you’ll realize how useful an edge it really is.

What Is Rakeback?

Rakeback is the amount of money a poker player pay to use the poker software and other services provided by a poker room. The rake amount is taken from all winning pots and from all tournament buy in fees.

The other requirement is you set up a rakeback account in order to play in the tournament, but this is a good deal for you as well.

In short, the rake is a fee taken out of every pot and if you sign up for a “rakeback” account when you first open a poker account you will be entitled to 25-33% of the rake you pay in each pot returned to you.

Although small for each pot the rake really adds up online, especially if you are playing more than one table.

Fred
