Question for experienced poker players?

what type of body language should I look for to tell whether a person is bluffing or not?

Any other poker tips would be much appreciated.

Pick up Mike Caro's book on Poker Tells. It is the definitive guide. He has many good pointers. But be warned these tells are only valid for the average players. You will always have trouble getting tells from pro players since they have probably read this book and are adept at giving false tells.

Hope this helps

The best advice I can give you is that instead of applying the same tells to all players, what you should do is watch your opponents. When you join a table, observe your opponents for a while(i.e 30 mins-1 hour). Watch what they do when they win, when they bluff, when there playing a draw, etc.

Watch specifically for how they put there chips in the pot, how they stare down when they bluff. Some people scratch there head, others crack there neck while they are bluffing, or excited with a big hand.

Be careful, if your playing strong players they will try to mislead you. Try your best to find consistencies in their play and exploit, these weaknesses.

Observe, observe, observe.

Lots of players try and look bored and upset when they have a good hand. You can tell because it looks really fake. I recomend the book "Ultimate Guide To Poker Tells" by Randy Burgess and Carl Baldssarre if youre really into poker. Always look at how people handle there chips, their eyes, and everything they do. If you notice something different then take note of it and look for if they do it again. If they showdown that hand then you know what they do when they have a hand like that.
