Is it normal to win at the beginning of session and then suddenly and abruptly start losing?

I seem to be able to win at the beginning of cash sessions and at the beginning of tournaments but at some point it seems like the cards turn bad or my opponents turn into unbeatable pros. I have been in situations where i win (even double up or more) and then i either get into an aces v kings or similar situation where i am on the short end, or i get the money in as a huge favorite and seemingly like a switch turned the miracle card hits and i am busted. as an example in a recent tourney i was involved in 4 situations after i had gotten to the chip lead where i was at least an 86% favorite with only the river to come and lost all 4 situations and eventually on the last one was busted. is this normal results or is it just the nature of todays chase mentality? the last situation was a 92% favorite that left me scratching my head. it was AK (with ace of spades) v AQ on a K-Q-5 (all spades) flop after a preflop raise from early position. these are the types of situations that have been coming up and i cant seem
