No effect at all! Tip only when you walk away with winnings.

Why would you tip frequently? If you're not winning frequently, there's no reason to tip. Tip if you win big, or right before you leave the table. There's no reason to tip more than once.

Tipping does significantly effect your winnings, plain and simple. Think about it this way, if you pull 3 pots an hour, say, and you tip 3 bucks everytime, you're simply taking a loss of $9/hr every single hour that you play. I'll take a $9/hr raise anytime, how about you?

Honestly though, stiffing the dealers will really not do you many favors either, as it lowers the happy go lucky environment that you want on a table. Hell, if I'm playing, I'll buy people drinks, laugh and joke with everyone, etc. Happy money is loose money.

So how much? Well, Mike Caro reccomended a dollar for an alright pot, and a couple bucks for a big pot. Another thing that's popular among the pros is when a dealer sits down, throwing him like 2-3 bucks, win or lose, for his rotation. If you consider having 10 people do that for a half hour push, the dealer won't be too butthurt, and you'll be saving money.

There's no wrong way to go perse, but tipping, like most things, is good in moderation.

Also, keep in mind WHY you're there. If that's your form of income to make a living, you'll probably want to be a little stiffer than if you're getting drunk on Saturday night. At that point, who gives a sht... :)

Being serious I've never heard of any nation talk about tipping as much as you Yanks. Giving a gratuity is entirely down to you if the service is good and you are enjoying yourself feel free to tip. If the service is cr@p don't tip. There is no set amount that you should tip, give what ever amount you are comfortable with whenever you want. You are the customer and you are the most important person at the table, not the dealer he will be paid regardless. The dealers job is to make you feel comfortable, it's not the other way around. Have a good time in Vegas and don't worry about tipping.

Oh and good luck.

Depends on the tables betting limit but, say the average hold'em or stud table (no higher than $25 max bet) a good average is a $1 a deal IF the pot gets over $25. More if you win and the pot is a nice size.

Used to deal poker and this was about the average we recieved.
