How much of your poker bankroll do you buy in with at a game?

Davidov 		Casino play is high and I doubt anyone has the proper bankroll for it. Mtts start around $100 so you need at least 100 buyins of that so 10k. Cash you can play 1/2 on 2-3 thousand.

smithy 		My personal opinion? Only bring what you can afford to lose. You can lose your shirt playing in a cash game with the regular sharks who virtually LIVE at the casino. These guys play cash games for a living. Have you ever seen Rounders? My advice is to bring only enough to buy into a tournament game. In tournament play, you buy in at your own level (cheapest typically being between $50-$100) and you start playing with the exact same amount of chips as everyone else. The prize awarded at the end of the tournament is dependent on the number of registered players.

Though online is a great place to learn, playing for play chips or in freerolls, you will see a lot of donkey players who are risking nothing so they have no problem shoving all in with 7/2 off suit and other various dumb plays.

If possible, stay away from hold 'em tables that do not have human dealers, cards you hold in your hand, and actual chips. Casinos that feature a virtual dealer, video cards, and a number to represent your chips is just a variation of online poker... and another way of the house giving themselves better odds.

Lastly... be smart. Leave your credit/debit cards at home.
