How do I get a job as a Texas Holdem Poker dealer?

I don't live close to any casino, and I don't have much money to spend. So is there a good online course I can take so I can learn at my own pace?

Contrary to what some may believe, you do not have to go to a brick and mortar type poker school to learn how to be a poker dealer.

There is only one home-based poker dealer training course that I know of that is any good. The best part about it is that you can learn at your own pace. The chapters also come with videos and pictures along with the textual instructions.

All you need to supply is the deck of cards and poker chips (cheap ones will do) and practice, practice, practice.

Directors will hire anyone that show that they know what they are doing during their audition.

When you finish you should be ready for any auditions anywhere.

There is a link somewhere in this blog.

It's called Poker Training - Look for the part where he mentions Home Based - Study at your own pace.

Good luck.

Dealer schools offer loans and financing if you can't afford them up front. They're not that expensive anyway, you could pay your way through with a job at McDonald's.

Casinos out here won't send you to dealer school, but I can't speak for anywhere else. I also don't believe there are too many casinos that would hire anyone who took an online course when they know there are plenty of people out there who went to a live school.

From what i know you would have to take a live class which takes about 2 - 4 weeks. And cost up to 2 grand. But most casinos your going to work at will pay for the class. I assume from your question your a poker player and want to make money and be around poker to hopefully turn pro. If you know poker then , you should be a blackjack dealer. way better tips and when you get off work hit up the poker tables. Also you dont want to start in vegas, they usually want experience in big casinos. Tunica, and biloxi, MISS. are good. Indiana has some casinos. There are tons of places.
