OK first you need to go to a dealer school. I would also make sure that the school you go to is one that it is accredited. Some dealer schools have people tech poker, who are not even poker dealers. Getting through dealer school might take anywhere from 1-3 months depending how well you learn to deal. After you finish dealer school you can start going out for auditions. This means that you go to casinos and ask to deal in real live games, and the poker room manager looks at how you deal. If they like you and want to hire you they will send you to h.r to fill out the paperwork. Now you will most likely start out in a break-in house. This means a low level casino that hires new dealers, you need 2-3 years of full time before you can get into the better casinos. You may even start off as a chip runner or brush. Just do as they ask and work any shift they ask you to and you'll move up. You will most likely start out on the graveyard shift, and you will also work most holidays as well. Plus it is a very stress filled place to work as well, if you don't like people, and if you don't like stress then this is not for you at all. But the pay is great and the benefits are also outstanding as well.

If you are has dealer schools than go to one of them. If there are no dealer schools in your area than go talk to the floor man at your favorite casino. He/She will tell you what is normally required to become a dealer. Sometimes you need to get your foot in the door first. Become a chip runner, this position doesn't require and experience. Brush position is a little more complicated because you do everything a chip runner does but you will also manage the lists and the players.
Some casino's, like mine, will have free dealer schools once you get hired. You need to really like people and can deal with player abuse. YOU WILL GET BLAMED A LOT FOR BAD BEATS. Learn how to handle this.
Good Luck!
