Without getting into any heavy calculations the way I do it is.. There are 4 suites and 13 cards from deuce to ace.. Your on a 4 flush after flop.. roughly 50-50 you will catch your card. I think it's 47% .. Gut shot Straight draw after flop.. 61/2 to 1 .. 13 to 1 with one card coming.. (river) A person can take these starting figures and apply it to any draw they might have.. The first thing I look at drawing to something is... How many players are in the hand.. And of course how much is it going to cost to see another card. There is nothing like hitting the flop. As you well know..

There are "formulas" based on how many outs you have but just remember you can't always be sure what your outs are, or if your outs are clean. If you are drawing to a flush, but someone has a set then even if the flush comes if it pairs the board you lose.

If you are playing online just use pokerstove.

The rule of 4 and 2 is probably the easiest way imo.

Cant be bothered explaining it just google "poker rule of 4 and 2" and you should get plenty.

there is a pot odds chart here http://www.nanostakespoker.com/math.htm that you can use to work out your chance of winning a hand in poker. The method is simple, you take you're outs. Outs are the number of cards you are drawing too to win the hand.

flush = 9 outs
open ended straight draw = 8 outs
gutshot = 4 outs
KT on a KA9 flop but u think opponent has AQ.... so you have 4 tens and 3 K = 7outs to win

Then you take the the actual odds of this occuring in relation to the odds you are being given and if they're greater then you should call.

The chart on the link is being transformed into a quiz to help ppl memorise pot odds but in the mean time print it out and concentrate on outs 3 - 10 which are the main odds you shoud start off learning. Keeping checking the link... quiz to go up soon!

38 over 9 is about the same as 36 over 9, which equals 4. That means 38 over 9 is 4 and 2/9ths.

70 over 16 is closest to 64 over 16, which also equals 4. That means 70 over 16 is 4 and 6/16ths.

Now I just have to compare 2/9 to 6/16. 2/9 is like 2/10, which equals .2. 6/16 is kind of like 6/18, which is .33. So the second one is bigger.

First you have to calculate he numbers of outs that make you win.

Then from the flop you multiply it by 4.

For example i have a flush draw, 9 out that give you arount 36% chance of winning.

From the turn you multiply it by 2.

The same flush dra you will have 16% of winning.
