Does Phil Hellmuth's 11th World Series of Poker win solidify him as the best player of all time?

Phil has won the most titles, but Johnny Chan has 10 titles in far fewer tournaments played in. Doyle Brunson also has 10 titles, but many of them were years ago against much smaller fields.

Does it matter that Phil's braclets are all in hold 'em, while Chan's and Brunson's are in a variety of games?
Phil has only 1 main event bracelet, in 1989, compared to several players who have won two including Chan (who won it back to back in '87 and '88 and finished second to Hellmuth in '89)

It does reserve him a space as one of the all time HoldEm greats.

Also, they're not all Main Event bracelets, right? How many of those does he have?

I don't know, I think he's a great player, but the question requires a somewhat subjective answer.

I would say.... no. But that doesn't take anything away from him, just that his accomplishments so far don't prove said title beyond a shadow of a doubt.

first of all in my opinion phil shouldn't even be in consideration for "best player of all time" because to me that means being able to beat the biggest cash games in the world, which phil has never been able to do...i understand that he does a lot of endorsements and doesn't have the time to play very often, but he is considered by the players in the big game to be horrible at live poker, and i'll take their word for it

now, he could definitely be the best tournament player of all-time...however, i think his bracelets are somewhat diminished by the fact that he has won only in hold'em...i understand he has had tournament successes in other games, but phil doesn't care about final table and second place, he plays to win bracelets and finish first...chan and doyle have not only entered less tournaments and won nearly as many bracelets, but also have won in multiple games...the reason they didn't play very often was because there were good side games which they could tear up very often and were more lucrative than playing tournaments, so they played only bigger events for a while, in fact doyle said for a long time, in the 80s, he only played the main event because of the side action...imagine if he and chan had played as many events as phil has through the years, they would both have 15 bracelets at least

so therefore, my answer right now is no, he is not the best player of all time and there is some clear doubt as to whether he is the best overall tournament player of all time...perhaps he is deserving of the title of best tournament no-limit hold'em player of all-time
