Can someone suggest me how can start at poker?

Hi used to play poker but now have not played it too long. I am bit rusty so can suggest me any tips to start off again and be successful poker player.

jamsey 		All we need in poker is a lot of concentration and a quick sight on the other players. As you have played before then you must be known to it. But still I've posted a link containing some tips of poker. Hope you will be helped.

twocox 		My first suggestions would be to go to Two Plus Two and see what books they have on the games you are interested in. Dan Harrington has great books on No Limit Hold em there. Then go to a site like Ultimate Poker Bankroll and read their guides and reviews to see what sites will be the best for starting out. That way you can play small stakes and clear bonuses while you are getting rid of the rust. Even playing $5 buy in games is better for that than playing for free money honestly, since it is hard to get a grasp for how you are playing when no one is taking the game seriously in play money. You can learn a few things from play money, but not a whole lot.

Also if you go to home games, DO NOT DRINK if you want to take it seriously. There is a reason people play well, then lose money as the night goes on and they have "just a couple"

fullhouse 		One thing is for sure. You don't become a successful poker player by posting the same question about poker over and over again.

Davidov 		start at the lower limits and move your way up. depending on how long you have been away from the game i think you may be surprised at how the game has changed. a lot more people are better at the game even at the lower limits than before.

This is a great way to brush up on the game, some are related to online poker schools, where you might have to pass a small quiz or something to get the money. This is also a great way to play at the different sites and compare which ones you personally like best. All sites have somewhat different style, skins, type of players, etc. You also need to find the place where you can dominate the others at your level. And you get FREE money to do it with, what more can you ask for!

fullhouse 		My suggestion is to go micro.. play micro stakes poker so you'll get your "groove" back, basically so you can hone your instincts, develop your strategy, and relearn the fundamentals.. don't play with fake money as it does nothing to help your game on real money table..
