About a hand that a friend play in a game and i think he played wrong and he says am crazy that i dont know how to play and i wanna know if am rigth or wrong! ?

We r playing a cash game first person checks,i check on his turn he raises $100 with AJ not suited,two persons fold and next person reraises $420,my turn i fold and on his turn he calls for all his chips that was like $400 every body folds just him and the other person and he encounters AK suited and he loses the hand and his money!!! Am asking him why he didnt fold and says to me if am crazy he got AJ i said ok but u raise and somebody reraise u 4 times what u raise and its for all ur money u should think that he got a better A than u or a premium hand like QQ,KK,AA or at least pairs and he said that he dont know were i learn to play poker because with AJ anybody will call,i think he was out of position to call that hand and not even for all of his money and i wanna know if am right or wrong,Can somebody please let me know???

it depends on blind structure the other player and if this was a cash game or tourny u must make this clear to answer in full and accuratly
